Kaeng Krachan National Park

Kaeng Krachan National Park is known as the largest national park in Thailand and also one of the most beautiful national parks in this country. Located near the Myanmar border, not far from Hua Hin and Tanintharyi Nature Reserve, Kaeng Krachan National Park is more and more known and visited by tourists.

Kaeng Krachan National Park stretches across the districts of Nong Ya Plong, Kaeng Krachan and Tha Yang of Phetchaburi province, and Hua Hin of Prachuap Khiri Khan province, with an area of up to 2915 km2, where it is home to 91 species of mammals, many of them are rare and endangered species; and 461 bird species, of which 8 are globally threatened, together with rich flora, mainly tropical and subtropical broad-leaved forests. Two rivers Pranburi and Phetchaburi flow in the national park, on the Phetchaburi river Kaeng Krachan dam was built in 1966, creating a large lake of 46.5 square kilometers.

From Hua Hin, you can reach Kaeng Krachan National Park within more than 1 hour with a distance of about 70km by car or you can transfer from the center of Phetchaburi province with a distance of 60 km by road.

Tourists can visit Kaeng Krachan National Park all year round, however, the best time  is in the dry season. The period from November to May next year when the weather is dry and cool is the most suitable time for a trip to Kaeng Krachan.
