Nong Khai

Nong Khai  is the capital of Nong Khai Province. The city lies on the western bank of the Mekong River, only about 20 km from Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Nong Khai is connected to Laos via the First Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, where you can get direct traffic to Vientiane via road and rail.

In recent years, Nong Khai has become a popular destination for both Thais and foreigners who travel to and from Laos.

Nong Khai itself is a sleepy Thai town with strong Lao influences. Sightseeing place in and around town include Sala Keoku, a park of massive sculptures that is located 6km east of the town, the historically significant Wat Po Chai, the unique sunken chedi of Wat Phra That and so on…
