Doi Tung

Doi Tung mountain with the high of 1389m, located in the Mae Fah Luang Garden, Chiang Rai province, famous for tourists with Doi Tung royal villa (Pra Tamnak Doi Tung), Wat Phra That Doi Tung Temple which was built on the top of Doi Tung, the tallest mountain in Chiang Rai.

Mae Fah Luang botanical garden is about 500m from Ankha village, is a beautiful garden with a lot of precious flowers and plants. The garden was ordered by the mother of King Rama 9 with the hope that Thai people who have not had the opportunity to go abroad can enjoy flowers from temperate regions. At Mae Fah Luang Garden, flowers bloom all year round, but the most beautiful is from December to January, that attracts many tourists.

 

Doi Tung Royal Villa is a combination of two styles: Swiss wooden chalet architecture and Thai Lanna Style according to Princess Srinakarindra's wishes. Royal Villa is open to visitors all year round, an interesting place for those who want to learn about the recent history and royalty of Thailand.

It is about 45 km from Chiang Mai center to Doi Tung, then tourists can hire a private car or take a tour to Doi Tung.

You can visit Doi Tung all year round, but the best time is in the dry season when the climate is cool and less rainy, that is from November to February next year.
