Because of the crisis of Covid-19 pandemic around the world, Southeast Asia countries’ Government decided to suspend the entry of foreigners in most situations (except Foreigners being diplomats, other countries’ government officials, foreign investors, experts and skilled workers). That means arrival in Southeast Asia for purpose of tourism is basically impossible right now.
However, as tourist is an important part of the countries’ economic system, and the pandemic is now step-by-step under control thanks to vaccination, the Governments are carefully discussing about re-open and partly lift-up the restriction to welcome foreign tourists to Southeast Asia again. As the pioneer, since the 1st of July, Thailand government started “Phuket sandbox” program, allow foreign tourists who has been completely vaccinated to roam the island freely for 14 days rather than spending it in hotel quarantine, after which they will be free to visit other parts of Thailand. This program is hoped to be the first step to revival Thai tourism industry, as well as Southeast Asia’s.
