Mai Chau Valley

Belonged to Hoa Binh province and situated about 140km west of Hanoi, Mai Chau is a stunning valley with sleeping beauty lying among spectacular evergreen mountains. From the top of Thung Khe Pass, one can see a spectacular panorama of Mai Chau with a little town and peaceful hill tribe villages lie along rice paddies and bamboo forests. Mai Chau is home to some minority groups of which Thai people occupy the majority. In villages, under the shade of trees are wooden local houses on stilts covered by palm leaf and decorated with patterns. Coming here, if you wish to have local experiences, you can spend a night at a homestay in Pom Coong or Lac village where you can wander around and join people in their daily activities. The Mai Chau Sunday market is the place where ethnic people coming from different regions gather to sell and buy specific products, make new friends and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Mai Chau is also an ideal spot for short trekking trips to surrounding villages.
