Hoa Binh Lake

Hoa Binh Lake is one of the largest artificial freshwater lakes in Vietnam since the construction of the Hoa Binh hydropower plant with a reservoir up to 9 billion m3 of water and 100 meters deep which is 70 kilometers southwest of Hanoi. With the charming natural scenery, the Hoa Binh lake-bed area has now become an ecotourism destination that many people love.

Hoa Binh lake bed is wide, and the water is soft so that it is suitable for sports such as SUP, kayak, canoe... The primary forest surrounding the lake helps the vegetation to remain unspoiled and fresh, then it is a perfect location for ecotourism and convalescence. All these features make this lake be a wonderful place to play sports and also immerse yourself in nature.

Local people living around Hoa Binh Lake are mainly small ethnic villages of Thai people and recently they are promoting ecotourism by developing homestays. It will be a lack if you come here without staying in a Thai stilt house, tasting dinner with specialties of Thai People and enjoying a beautiful performance of Thai dance.

Besides these activities as mentioned above, tourists usually take part in a boat trip for 1 hour for sightseeing the charming landscape of the lake and surrounding areas such as Thac Bo temple and Thac Bo Cave on the banks of Da river in Thung Nai commune whenever traveling to Hoa Binh Lake.
