Ben Tre

Just 2 hour drive on the highway from Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Tre is known for its stunning rural landscapes of undulating rice fields, green orchards, rustic country villages and friendly people.

Ben Tre is made up of three main islands wedged between the Tien River to the north and to Co Chien River to the south with the Ham Luong River running straight down the centre. This system of rivers and their branches make Ben Tre an amazing land. Boat trips are one of the nicest ways to negotiate the network of channels, but the land in between the waters is just as fascinating.

Being closest part of the Mekong Delta to Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Tre is normally visited for day trip along with My Tho of Tien Giang Province that just located on the other bank of the Tien River or taken as the first stop on your longer journey to discover deeper to the area.

Famous for coconut, Ben Tre is home to a specialty of Mekong Delta – Coconut candy. Wander around this land, you will be under the shade of coconut gardens that expand endlessly in the tropical sun. Colorful signs advertising for coconut candy can be seen on the side of almost every main road that lead in and out of the province.

Visiting to one of the coconut candy factory is a must when you are here.

Apart from coconut, this land also produces some other great tropical fruits including: Rambutan, grape fruit, orange, mango, longan, watermelon, mangosteen and many other stuff that all with excellent taste and flavor.

Take a boat trip cruise on the mighty Mekong River, sit on little sampan and enjoy a rowing trip along meandering creeks, visit evergreen orchard, sample fresh tropical fruits, visit to local cottage industries and take a motor cart or bicycle to wander around the islands is a wonderful experience.
