Hoang Lien NP

Hoang Lien Son National Park is one of the top major national parks with a total internal region of 29,845 ha plus a buffer region of 38,724 ha on Hoang Lien Son mountain range that was founded in 2002. This national park is considered one of the most biodiversity parks not only in Viet Nam but also in Indochina. Hoang Lien Son National Park is the main primitive forest with a system of rich and diverse flora and fauna, including Fansipan peak – the rooftop of Indochina with 3,147 meters high.

In terms of the flora, there are over 2,000 species of plants with typical wood living in Hoang Lien National Park, of which about 66 rare species are listed in the Red Book of Viet Nam while the fauna is plentiful with 66 species of mammals, among them, 16 species are listed in Vietnam Red Book; 347 species of birds; 41 species of amphibians and 61 reptile species, consisting of rare horned frogs in Vietnam recently been discovered. The diverse flora and fauna contribute to turning Hoang Lien National Park into one of the appealing attractions in Sapa.

Particularly, Hoang Lien National Park is home to many ethnic people who live in the core area with their unique traditional culture such as music and dance activities of Mong, Dao, Giay ethnic people with instruments such as panpipe, flute, trumpet, etc.
