Vinh Trang Pagoda

Tien Giang is a land of Southern history and culture in which Vinh Trang Pagoda is a key place that makes the identity here. The architecture of Vinh Trang pagoda:

Arriving here, tourists will be surprised to feel the perfect Eurasian harmony in Vinh Trang pagoda architecture reflecting in the three-door gate with the art of grafting with crockery, porcelain made by the skillful hands of the ancient artisans put into many paintings illustrating the legend of the Buddha, folk tales, themes of the four supernatural creatures and flowers, leaves, clouds, sky... with the wonderful dexterity as picturesque.

The system of statues:

In Vinh Trang pagoda, there are 60 Buddha statues made of wood, bronze, terracotta and cement which are gleaming gold. Besides statues and artifacts, the pagoda also has a huge 1.2 meters high Bell named Phap Bao that is about 150 kg and more than 20 valuable aqua paintings.

The space inside the pagoda is presented many artworks of generations of artisans throughout the North, Central and South, for example, Eighteen Arhat statues that are not inferior in terms of art compared to Arhat statues in Tay Phuong pagoda in the North.

Within the precincts of the pagoda is a statue of sitting Maitreya Buddha in the center of the park, which is 27 meters in length, 18 meters wide, 20 meters high and about 250,000kg weight with concrete and reinforced materials. Inside the statue of Amitabha Buddha, they designed it become the working office of Tien Giang Buddhist Administration Board, which has a lecture hall and accommodation for 200 people.

Vinh Trang pagoda is recognized as a national historical and cultural relic By Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with its distinctive architectural and spiritual values. The historical – cultural value of Vinh Trang pagoda is increasingly proving itself to be a tourist destination in Tien Giang that not to be missed.

Vinh Trang Pagoda is located in My Tho – Tien Giang, about 90km from Can Tho city, and about 4km from My Tho city. You can easily get here by private car or van from Saigon or Can Tho to My Tho city, then transfer 4 to 5 km to get Vinh Trang pagoda. You can visit Vinh Trang pagoda when taking a tour to discover Mekong Delta for 1 to 2 days from Sai Gon.
