Krong Saen Monourom

Krong Saen Monourom, the small capital of Mondulkiri in east Cambodia, is located among lush green forests, charming hills, and vast meadows. The Sea Forest, a bare mountain not far from the town, offers a stunning view of the surroundings from the summit. There is a small local market selling fresh foods and fruits at very good prices.

From Krong Saen Monourom, it is easy to rent a mountain bike to explore the area at your own pace. Besides biking, you can take trips out of the town to admire the impressive beauty of Borsa waterfall, soak in cool water, try local native costumes, and observe the elephants in their natural habitats at the Elephant Valley Project. It is an exciting and fun activity when you feed, walk, touch, and bathe with the elephant in the jungle.

To reach Krong Saen Monourom, the most comfortable way is using a private car starting from Phnom Penh, Ban Lung, and Kratie. The town is quite small, so you can explore on foot or ride a bike.

Krong Saen Monourom, lying at the altitude of 800 meters above sea level, has cooler weather than other regions of Cambodia. It is warm during the daytime and becomes a bit chilly at nighttime. The average temperature is around 20°C to 29°C. The best time to visit Krong Saen Monourom is during the cool season from November to February.
