Organized on the 30th of April to celebrate the Victory on 30th April 1975 when the communist force captured Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) bringing the Vietnam War to an end, paving the way for national reunification and sustainable development. There're music performances, streets are decorated with banners and lights and resident houses are required to hang the national flag in front of their doors. Good chance to take photos.
April remains a good time to travel in Vietnam with lots of advantages. The weather is rather mild with a clearer sky and atmosphere is expected throughout the month making it a good chance for natural sightseeing and photo hunting. Also, most of the tourist sites are not as crowded as they were in the previous months whilst all the beaches in the country are accessible. For those who love the sun and sea then it is a good time to come to Vietnam.
If you plan to visit Vietnam for a short time (around 10 days something) then your itinerary should include all the highlights in the country. For a longer journey, we suggest you take a deeper visit to mountainous areas of Vietnam such as North West and North East. This is a fantastic time to visit such beautiful places since your view of the stunning scenery is never hampered.
Halong Bay and its sister, the Cat Ba Island offer a clear view of the fascinating landscape and beautiful photos are waiting for you whilst the warm weather is perfect for swimming. The other places in the country can be added to your itinerary without any hesitation.
Anyway, at the end of the month (during the 30th of April and 1st of May – the Reunification days and International Labors day) beaches and other places like Cat Ba Island, Da Nang, Nha Trang or Sapa should be avoided since this is the first summer vacation for Vietnamese after the Tet and you will see a huge stream of Vietnamese tourist rushing to these places for their holiday making it so crowded and expensive. So, you can arrange your visit to these places before or after this time except you want to join in the crowd.
