QUANG NINH - Halong Bay is the sole Vietnamese representative on the global list of the top 24 must-visit destinations for the year 2024.
OvationNetwork, a luxury travel company based in the United States, unveiled its selection of the 24 best travel destinations for 2024 in early October. These choices are based on fresh criteria that encompass the perfect blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities, culinary experiences, and everyday life. Zane Bohrer, Vice President and CEO of OvationNetwork, emphasized that next year, travelers will be seeking profound connections and unprecedented experiences in their chosen destinations.
Located in Quang Ninh Province, Halong Bay is Vietnam's exclusive entry on the list, securing the 24th position. "Why visit Halong Bay? Because it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the world's most unique ecosystems, and possesses extraordinary geological formations," remarked OvationNetwork.
Andrew Lewis Harrison, an American travel advisor, believes that Halong Bay has something to offer for both food enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. Visitors are encouraged to explore the bay by traditional wooden boats. "If you are concerned about crowds, you can opt for a journey north to the nearby Bai Tu Long Bay," suggested Harrison.
This isn't the first time Halong Bay has been featured in the list of must-visit global destinations. In 2023, Quang Ninh's representative also secured a spot among CNN's top 25 most beautiful destinations on the planet.
Situated in northeastern Vietnam, Halong Bay lies 165 kilometers from the capital city of Hanoi and covers an area of over 1,550 square kilometers, featuring 980 named islands. It has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage site. The bay boasts a wealth of limestone islands, caves, and stunning beaches.
Other Asian destinations making it to the top 24 include Niseko, Japan; Jeju Island, South Korea; the Orkhon Valley, Mongolia; Goa, India; Tangalle, Sri Lanka; and Pokhara, Nepal.
