Upon arrival in Hanoi, the bustling capital of Vietnam, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred from the airport to your hotel in the city center. Hanoi is a vibrant and captivating city, offering an abundance of sights and activities to explore. The historic Old Quarter is a colorful hub of activity, with elegant colonial architecture, tree-lined boulevards, numerous lakes, temples, and an array of delicious food options. If time permits, this afternoon you will embark on an orientation tour to discover the highlights of the city, allowing you to get your bearings for the rest of your trip. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of Hanoi, and immerse yourself in the local atmosphere before enjoying a welcome dinner at a cozy local restaurant. Your overnight stay will be in a hotel located in the heart of Hanoi.

On this day, you will embark on a full-day tour to explore Hanoi's most prominent attractions. The itinerary includes a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where you can catch a glimpse of Ho Chi Minh's glass sarcophagus (closed on Mondays, Fridays, and from October to November, viewed from the outside), as well as the Presidential Palace and his modest stilt house. You will also visit the Temple of Literature, which was the first university in the country and dates back to 1076. The temple features enormous stone steles on turtle backs with the names of the country's men who received Doctor Laureate through royal examinations.
This afternoon you will explore the colorful Museum of Ethnology and the vibrant backstreets of the Old Quarter. The tour will provide you with ample information about Vietnam's land, history, people, and culture, and present you with a great opportunity to capture interesting moments of local life and sample some fantastic local cuisine.

Embark on an unforgettable journey to witness the breathtaking beauty of the World Heritage site, Halong Bay, during an overnight boat cruise. This stunning location, recognized as one of the 7 new wonders of the World, boasts an emerald water body spanning over 1500 square kilometers, filled with an array of limestone islands of unique shapes, carved over millions of years by the forces of nature.

After around 2 hours drive from Hanoi, you will check in on board and indulge in a sumptuous seafood lunch while cruising through the picturesque limestone islands. Take a closer look at the Halong Bay floating villages, swim in the crystal clear waters, explore the vast limestone cave and capture incredible moments through your lens with thousands of opportunities for photographs. As night falls, retire to your comfortable accommodation on board, and lay under the starry sky for a truly unforgettable experience.

Rise and shine early in the morning to catch a breathtaking sunrise over Halong Bay, and enjoy a light breakfast of coffee and cakes as the crew prepares to set sail to other parts of the bay. After lunch on board, you will return to the harbor for a drive back to Hanoi. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore Hanoi or indulge in some shopping. In the evening, you will board a comfortable night train to Dong Hoi. Each cabin has four soft sleeper bunks (with occasional variations for seasonal changes), ample space for luggage, and a lockable door. The train is air-conditioned and has western-style and squat toilets at either end of the carriage.

You will arrive early in Dong Hoi and then be transferred to Phong Nha National Park, renowned for its karst system and as the site of the largest limestone cave in the world. Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is considered one of the oldest and largest karst regions in Asia, boasting numerous grottoes and caves, with only 20 of them and 70 km of length surveyed so far. It is also a thriving habitat for a rich diversity of flora and fauna. You will board a long tail boat to cruise up the Son River and explore the mystical tunnels of Phong Nha Cave, also known as the 'Cave of Teeth and Wind', with its impressive giant stalactites and stalagmites and crystal clear waters. After lunch, you will be transferred to Hue and arrive in the late afternoon. You will spend the night in Hue.

Hue, located in central Vietnam, is an ancient imperial capital known for its rich history and stunning natural landscapes.

Embark on a traditional 'dragon boat' and cruise down the picturesque Perfume River, visiting iconic sites like Thien Mu Pagoda and one of the majestic tombs of former emperors that blends perfectly with its natural surroundings.

In the afternoon, visit the Imperial Citadel and Forbidden City, which was the administrative center of the country from 1802 to 1884 and is a fortress-like citadel surrounded by massive brick walls and a moat system. While it once contained hundreds of buildings in perfect harmony with the concept of Fengshui, only a third of the structures remain due to wars.

Afterwards, explore Dong Ba market and try some of Hue's famous local specialty, 'banh khoai.'

It used to be a bustling commercial center where merchant ships from both the East and the West would dock. Nowadays, Hoi An's unique heritage site combines well-preserved architecture, lifestyle, and atmosphere. It is also a shopper's paradise with a plethora of items to browse and buy. In the afternoon, take a walking tour through the Hoi An ancient quarter, visit the Hoi An Center Market, temples, assembly halls, museum, and ancient houses. Take a stroll along the waterfront area where local activities take place. Indulge yourself with a refreshing drink in one of the elegant cafes and contemplate the mossy roofs and shuttered windows. Payment:A deposit of 30% of total price is needed to initiate the tour booking after the itinerary is finalized. The balance for the trip is due 15 days prior to your arrival.

Arrival and departure flights:You are advised to make your own booking for international flights from/back your home country. This allows you to determine better the travel time frame, budget and to deal with insurance claim when needed. Travel Authentic Asia team will base on your flight schedule to work out the best itinerary for you or/and to modify the itinerary to get it matches.

Travel documents:You must carry a valid passport and have obtained all of the appropriate visas, permits and certificates for the countries in which you will visit during your trip. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the duration of the trip. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in possession of the correct visas, permits and certificates for your trip. Travel Authentic Asia accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the failure of clients to obtain appropriate documentation.

Travel insurance:It is your responsibility to get your own international travel insurance and read the insurance policy before you travel and ensure that the insurance scheme provides with the requisite level of cover. Insurance should cover personal accident and medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation, baggage loss, and cancellation or curtailment of vacation. Weather: The weather in this part of Southeast Asia is varied depening on the region and season. In the winter time from Nov to Feb, the temperature in some area such as North Vietnam, especially mountainous areas can be as low as 2-4 Degree Celsius (35 Degree Fahrenheit) and pretty cold. Other parts can be warm with temperature up to 36 Degree Celsius or more (96 Degree Fahrenheit). What to take: What you need to bring will vary according to the trip style you have chosen, the countries you are visiting and when you are travelling. Generally speaking you should pack as lightly as possible. It is advisable to have your backpack or suitcase with wheels. An overnight bag with a shoulder strap or little backpacks is convenient to carry water and a camera etc for day trips. Warm clothes and light jacket are needed for the North Vietnam and northern Lao during the winter time from November to March. Sunblock, swimsuits and a light raincoat is advised all year round.
