Laos is known for its laid-back culture, and this is reflected in the pace of life in the country's capital, Vientiane. While there may not be as many public activities available for both Laos people and foreigners to participate in compared to other cities, there are still plenty of interesting places to explore in the evening.
The options for nightlife activities outside the city centers and crowded areas may be limited, but there are still opportunities to relax with a glass of beer or a cocktail in hand. So, while Laos may not be the most bustling and eventful place, it still offers a unique and enjoyable experience for those who appreciate a slower pace of life.
In many places, things tend to be relatively quiet until around 10:00 PM, but within an hour, the atmosphere can quickly change as crowds begin to arrive for a bustling night out. Most venues tend to close around 1:00 AM, although some of the nightlife clubs located within larger hotels may stay open a bit later.
The nightlife activities in Vientiane are exciting and lively with numerous nightclubs inside big hotels serving both local people and foreign tourists. Besides, there are some pubs, discos, karaokes playing various types of music including Lao, Thai, Asian and Western music. The best way to feel the night of this city is simply to stroll around and get in any place that you are interested in.
Located on the southwest corner of Nam Phu Fountain, Khop Chai Deu is a popular spot for both locals and tourists visiting Laos. If you're looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, you might enjoy checking out Jazzy Brick or Chicago Bar. For those who enjoy dancing and lively music, Dtec Disco inside the Novotel hotel is a great option. Keep in mind that most services tend to close down before midnight, although some nightlife clubs may stay open until 1:00-1:30 AM. Of these, the most notable is the nightclub at Don Chan Palace Hotel, which is open until 4:00 AM on weekends.
If you are interested in enjoying live music while drinking a fresh cocktail, visit Chess Café or On the Rock.
Vang Vieng nightlife offers various attractive options for drinking by night. While the well-known ‘shroom special shakes’ is the thing that tourists often try for at least one time once arrive in Vang Vieng, they still tend to order beers or drinks that they are familiar with. Many bars with impressive decorations beside the pool and darts attract lots of young tourists to experience. Also, lots of them do the job of a restaurant but stay late so people can enjoy a wonderful meal while listening to lovely music as well.
Luang Prabang is not a busy nightlife address due to the limited number of places serving drinking that open till midnight. Some popular tourist places are: Dao Fah bar, Lao Lao Garden, Night food market, Utopia bar…This is more a place for wandering and enjoying laidback style. Anyway, for two or 3 nights here you can always find somewhere to kill your time.

In Savannakhet, there are various restaurants and open-air bars located along the Mekong Riverfront where people can enjoy both domestic and imported beer and get away from the busy daily life.
Laos may not offer the most bustling and eventful entertainment scene compared to other countries, but it still has plenty of interesting and enjoyable options to offer!
