Laos - weather & travel conditions in August

Weather

Laos’s weather in August is a picture of intermixture between positive and negative facts with the rainfall reaches to its peak throughout the country whilst temperature becomes milder and at the same time you can still expect lots of dry days and blue sky.
In the mountainous north of the country including areas of Luang Nam Tha, Phong Sa Ly and Oudomxay, the daytime average temperature stays at around 29-30oC whilst rain pours become more constant that brings the total precipitation up to around 300mm throughout the month.
Weather conditions in Luang Prabang and Vientiane are not much different with temperatures during this time range between 30 to 31oC and monthly rainfall goes from 260 to 320mm.
In the southern part of Laos including the areas of Savannakhet & around Champasak (Pakse, and 4000 island) the rain can last longer and be more constant although plenty of dry days are still expected. Temperatures stay around 30oC.

How to do and what to expect if travel to Laos in August

Travel to mountainous and remote regions is difficult at times since the road condition is not really good and somewhere may be inaccessible.
Vientiane, Luang Prabang and some other sights in central Laos still a good choice by time.
In the south, natural landscape is now fresher and region's waterfalls are almost at their best. Highlights such as the 4000 Islands, Bolaven Plateau and Champasak also remain very accessible and enjoyable.
