Is Laos now open to foreign tourists?

Laos is still partially open to vaccinated tourists. So we can say that the answer is YES, but with requirement. You can prepare for your 2022 Laos holiday from now. An untouched and pristine Laos, with Vientiane the capital, Luang Prabang, … are waiting to welcome all visitors once again. Of course, to protect yourself and others, please follow all the instructions from the Governments and WHO to keep yourself away from the Corona virus.

What do I need to enter Laos in 2022?

Visa and Passport

In case you are not visa-exempt, you need to know that Laos government has suspended the visa on arrival service at all international entry points, besides, eVisa service is not available either (the suspension can be lift in further notice from Laos government).

However, the Lao authorities may consider granting special entry permission for foreigners. Please check with your country’s embassy to know if you can take a allowance to travel to Laos.

Vaccinated Certification

To enter Laos, you need to prove that you have already got 2 doses of the Covid 19 vaccine. So please keep a vaccinated certification together with your travel documents.

You can use some verified apps on smartphone and obtain a green pass of fullly vaccinated (Cre: veridos.com)

After being allowed to enter the country, you still need to follow 14 days of quarantine.

Covid 19 Negative Test Result

To enter Laos, all travellers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result that is released 72 hours before arrival in Laos at maximum.

Health Insurance with medical coverage

Travellers are subject to COVID-19 RT-PCR test upon arrival, airport medical sceening and 14-day quarantine at their own expense when travel to Laos. A completed health declaration form must be presented upon arrival

Do I need to quarantine when visiting Laos in 2022?

At Laos international airport, you must do a rapid test and wait for the results (about 30mins), then if your result is negative, you then can enter the country and immediately go to a designated area to stay in and quarantine for the next 14 days.

After quarantine period finish, you can travel to some places of Laos. Remember, not all the provinces are now opened for visitors.
