The Burmese Thingyan festival

One of the famous festivals in Myanmar is New Year's Water Festival (Thingyan). It is April’s greatest festival and the most significant event for the Burmese people in the nation. This Myanmar New Year's festival lasts from April 12 to 16 every year. It is a cozy nationwide festival in mid-April, with a festive atmosphere filling the country. The Thingyan Festival is similar to the Songkran festival held in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries. People go to the streets with water balloons, taps and saucepans to splash each other in the festive spirit. Panguni Uthiram Festival

The festival is held for 5 weekdays from April 13 to April 17. Panguni Uthiram Festival is a celebration of great significance to the Hindu community in Myanmar. Participants of this festival walk on hot coals to expel evils from their bodies and spirits. Then they soak their feet in goat milk and the ritual is complete when they rub their feet with turmeric. It is considered that the participants who attend the ritual will get lucky. Thousands of tourists also attended the ceremony to witness how this traditional festival blends into the urban environment of a burgeoning city like Yangon. Visitors can experience this delightful celebration with locals who wish to show the world their unique culture and traditions.

Shwemawdaw Temple Festival

Shwemawdaw Pagoda Festival is held in April in Bago. Every year, dancers and troupes gather and perform at this festival. The performers make new and beautiful outfits from the pre-received money and will practice training during monsoons. It attracts many tourists from everywhere in the world to pay homage to the sacred temple. Buddhists and visitors will witness a thrilling performance from the performers. Diverse cultures and traditions can be seen in these performances by dance troupes made up of many races in Myanmar.
