+Is it safe to travel to Laos?

Laos is a serenely safe country with thousands of tourists enjoying worry-free holidays there every year. While there are unexploded bombs left over from warfare in some off-limits areas. For your safety, please respect these boundaries. In any destinations in the world, foreign tourists usually potentially have trouble with theft, pickpocket and other petty crimes. And in Laos, there is no different. So always stay conscious to protect your belongings and personal safety.

- Take a camera, cellphone strap and a money belt (or small bag) to carry your money, passport and valuables with you, and don’t leave any valuables in your hotel room.
- Don’t distract from your belongings, especially in crowded areas.
- Always choose well-lit paths and streets, especially when you travel alone or at night.

+Do I need a visa to travel to Laos?

Laos visa-free travelling is applied to citizens of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Japan, South Korea, Russia and Switzerland. Tourists from other countries are required to obtain a tourist visa.

Currently, tourist visa on arrival is available to citizens of most countries, including the US, the UK, the EU, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It can be obtained at all international airports and most international border crossings in Laos, which will generally allow you to stay in 30 days. +When is the best time to visit Laos?

Laos is belonging to tropical and subtropical monsoon climate, specifically, it is tropical in the plains, and subtropical in the mountains and the far north.

The best time to visit, based on the weather, is in the dry season, especially from November to February, when the weather is cool and dry. However, this period is also the peak season, with more travelers. So it may be crowded and the prices may rise. It is advisable to plan ahead and make reservations in advance.

If you'd prefer visiting Laos at a quiet time, the wet season is considerable. Though there is one or two raining hours a day. Then you’ll find everything is greener after the sun comes out.

+What is the local currency of Laos and what currency should I take?

The official currency in Laos is the Lao Kip (LAK); and 1 USD is equivalent to 9,517.08 kip (as of 19th July 2021). LAK is the most commonly used, but US dollars and Thai Baht are also acceptable in popular tourist cities and towns, such as Luang Prabang and Vientiane. If you make smaller purchases, LAK would be expected.

Credit cards are also acceptable in airports, major hotels and shopping malls, etc.
